NOVEMBER NEWSLETTER

Schedule for Activity Day Girls and Cub Scouts
Activity Day Girls 1st and 2nd weeks meet at the church , 3rd week meet at Sister Parker’s house.
Cubs and 11 year old Scouts meet at the church 1st through 3rd weeks. 4th week is Thanksgiving break, no Activities

Announcements:
-Reminder that next Sunday we fall back an hour for daylight savings.
-November 14th is our Primary Program so we will be meeting in the chapel for Sharing Time for the next 2 weeks to practice. They will each have a line or two to say so please work with them on these so they feel comfortable knowing what they have to say in front of the congregation. Please mark this on your calendar and be sure to invite family and friends. The kids have worked really hard to learn the songs for the program this year and we are very proud of them!

Message from the Presidency:
As we all know, this month is Thanksgiving. We hope you will instill in your children a sense of thanks and gratitude for their families, this beautiful time of the year, and this wonderful gospel which they have been so blessed to have in their lives. Encourage them to share what they are thankful for and write it in their journals so they will have it to look back on when times get tough. Have a great holiday!

OCTOBER NEWSLETTER

Hope everyone enjoyed listening to Conference and was able to take their own personal message from it and apply it to their lives. I always love hearing from our General Authorities and especially our prophet. He has such a sweet spirit and when he speaks, you can feel the love that he has for each and every one of us and also the love he has for our Savior. How lucky we are to have a living prophet on the earth to guide and direct us. I hope that we can be better missionaries this month and encourage our children, as well, to share this wonderful gospel with their friends and invite them out to church.

Our theme for the month is “The mission of the Church Is to Invite All to Come unto Christ”
The October scripture is Moroni 10:32 “ Yea come unto Christ, and be perfected in Him.”

Announcements:
Our annual talent show is this Friday Oct 8 from 6:30-8:00. Hope all children and parents can make it! This is a wonderful way for the kids to show their talents! If your child would like to participate but has not signed up yet, please contact Christy Jett. We will also have tables for displays if they would rather display a talent than perform. See you there!
Just a reminder for the parents of the 11 year olds; please remember to take the time to sit down with your child and work with them on their goals before they turn 12!

FYI- Mark your calendars -Our Primary Program is coming up on Nov 14th so we will be practicing lots until we’ve perfected these songs. The kids are doing a great job!

FAITH IN GOD SCHEDULE
for boys and girls ages 8-11 is as follows each month, Wednesdays, 7 pm:

1st week: All at building (Cubs and 11 y.o. boys in dens, Girls with Sis. Bain)
2nd week: All at building w/ Sis. Hall in Primary Room
3rd week: Girls with Sis. Parker at her house
Cubs and 11 y.o. boys in dens
4th week: Girls do NOT meet.
Cubs meet for Pack Meeting.
11 y.o. boys meet in den

There are no Primary mid-week activities on weeks of Cherokee County school breaks.

Tell Me The Stories Of Jesus.....

We have really enjoyed this month's theme on miracles. Sister Karski put together a wonderful Sharing Time at the beginning of the month that included a challenge for all the Primary children to read from the scriptures. There was a handout included in her lesson and several children have requested another copy of it. Please see the link below. The handout can be found at the bottom under "Activity".

HANDOUT

Each day look up the scripture reference on that day's set of small scriptures and read the stories of Jesus. Then color the set of scriptures for that day. Each day also lists a picture from the Gospel Art Picture Kit (GAK) that can accompany the story. Share your favorite stories of Jesus with your family.

A Fun Day of Service

A big thank you to everyone who helped out with the Primary activity on Saturday.

All the kids had a great time serving others.

Writing letters to the missionaries and coloring pictures for the local nursing home.

It's time to get messy.

The flower pots the children painted and planted for some members of the Ward to brighten their day.

SATURDAY, MAY 8th at 10:00-11:30am

Primary Quarterly Activity

For this activity, the children will be learning the importance of service. They will particpate in service for the community, the missionaries, and our Ward. We want the children to learn that when they serve others, they serve our Heavenly Father and their testimonies will grow when they share our Savior's love through service.

All the service projects will take place outside at the pavilion. It may be a little messy since we will be painting and working with dirt, so please have your children wear clothing that can get dirty. If you have any questions, please contact someone from the Primary Presidency.

General Conference 2010

The 180th Annual General Conference will be held April 3-4. You and your family can view the broadcast at the Allatoona building if you are unable to view it at home.

CUB SCOUT - March Events

SCOUTING FOR FOOD

Pack 637 will be participating in the wonderful service project Scouting For Food this year. This is a simple yet very helpful project!
All those who participate will earn the Scouting for Food Badge.

Please have your Cub Scout meet IN UNIFORM at the Allatoona Building parking lot at 9:45AM on Saturday March 13 so we can drop off bags in our designated area as a Pack.

NOTE: Rain or Shine please meet at the church Parking Lot. If the weather does not cooperate, we will hand out bags for you to do at another date on your own time.

The drop off and pick up should not take more than an hour on each day.

****WE WILL NEED A FEW DRIVERS FOR THIS PROJECT. Please contact Sister Jett if you can help out or if you need more information.

BLUE AND GOLD BANQUET

Our annual Blue and Gold banquet will be held on March 25. More information will be coming in the next week. Please RSVP with Trudy Jerls, Christy Jett or Shannon Collins. Remember that this is a family event and we encourage you to bring the entire family to this fun dinner where we will be celebrating our Cubs and 100 year of Scouting.

For the Blue and Gold Banquet we are asking each boy to bring a cake they baked with a female in their family (Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt) - here is more information:

Cub Scout CAKE OFF!

For the centerpieces for this year’s Blue and Gold Banquet – we’re going to have CAKE! And the best part is – the Cubs and a female from their families are going to bake AND decorate the cakes!

Here are the rules:
#1 – The Cub has to do the majority of the baking and decorating (and clean-up too!) with a female in his family (Mother, Sister, Aunt, Grandma)
#2 – The cake must be in one of these two themes
• 100 Years of Scouting
• Cub Scouts or Scouting in general
#3 – The cake must be on something you don’t mind sending home with someone else

Prophets

In the month of March, the children will be learning about Prophets. They will learn that: Prophets are called by God; Prophets testify of Jesus Christ; There is safety in following the prophet; God speaks through prophets. The children will also practice the Primary song "Follow the Prophet" pg 110-111

The month of March is a great opportunity for us to prepare the children to hear the words of our leaders at General Conference. We encourage all families to discuss the blessings that come as we follow the prophet during your family home evenings.

PINEWOOD DERBY FEBRUARY 25th 2010 7PM

Pack 637 will be holding their annual Pinewood Derby on February 25th at the Woodstock building. The race will begin at 7PM. Please have your Cub there early to register and weigh in so that we can start racing on time.
