My Family is Blessed When We Remember Jesus Christ

This month the theme in Primary is

"My family is blessed when we remember Jesus Christ"

The children will be learning ways that they can remember to think about Jesus. We will be encouraging them to remember Jesus both at church and at home. We want the children to understand the importance of the Christmas story this holiday season. They will learn that Jesus was born into a family just like them and that when we partake of the sacrament we are making a promise to always remember him. We will also be learning how we can become more like Jesus and prepare for the Second Coming.

Please refer to the side column for the talks and scriptures assigned this month. If your child is not going to be able to participate on the assigned day, please contact a member of the Presidency.

Primary Happenings

***This week the Girl's Activity will be at Sister Parker’s house for cooking on the 19th.

***There will be NO CUB MEETING the week of Thanksgiving.

The Girls had a great activity the other week where they discussed all the things they are thankful for. They used their brilliant ideas to create magnificent Fall artwork. I am always amazed at how creative these young ladies are.

The Cub Scouts had a great opportunity to learn about Law Enforcement. Brother Collins was kind enough to bring a Police Cruiser last Thursday and share with them about his job with the Police Department. The boys were able to climb into the cruiser and also were allowed to try on some Police gear. It was an extremely fun experience.

We would like to congratulate Bryce Bergman on graduating from Primary. He also completed his Faith in God requirements which is an outstanding acheivement! It has been a pleasure having him in Primary and we will all miss seeing him during Singing/Sharing Time. We enjoy all the kids in the ward and feel privileged to watch them grow into fine young men and women.

Our next Primary Activity will be on December 11th at the church building. Please mark your calendars and keep an eye out for more information to come soon!

We are very excited about the Camp/Pack Meeting on Saturday night!! Below are some details and any questions can be answered at tonight's meeting if needed.

The activity on Saturday will help the boys achieve their Outdoor Pack Award - something they worked on a lot over the summer. We will be meeting at Blanket Creek park at 4PM. Please make note that ALL family members are invited to participate!

BLANKET CREEK
2125 Sixes Rd.
Canton, GA 30114

(Click on the "BLANKET CREEK" link above for more park information and directions)

We plan on riding on one of the smaller, easier trails if the weather permits so please bring your bikes AND helmets. You will not be able to ride without a helmet.

We also want to demonstrate putting up tents so if you have one please bring it!

We will also be presenting the boys with any awards/badges/loops that have been earned. Please remember to have your Cub take his book tonight so we can make sure we have all their achievements recorded.

Hot dogs and marshmallows will be available for the Cubs to cook for their families over an open fire to help them finish their requirements for the award.

Permission slips are needed for this activity since we are not meeting at the building. You can pick one up tonight or fill one out online from the Primary Blog.

Primary Program

We are so excited that our Primary Program is coming up this month. The theme for Primary this year has been "My Eternal Family." It has been wonderful for the children to share ways they are contributing to their families and building up the kingdom of God. They can't wait to share what they have learned with the Ward.
The Primary Program will be held on October 25 during Sacrament Meeting. Each child will have an opportunity to participate in the Program and will be given a special part. The children will also be singing Primary songs that they have been practicing throughout the year.
This Sunday (Oct 11) and next Sunday (Oct 18) the children will be practicing for the Program during the second and third hours of church. We will be giving each child a piece of paper with their part for the Program on it. We encourage all parents to help their child memorize the part. We would also love for the children to practice the Primary songs. Family Night would be a great time for them to review the songs and even teach them to you. Below are the songs we will be singing in the Program:
I Lived in Heaven (CS,4)
How Firm a Foundation (Hymn #85 - verses 1 and 3)
My Eternal Family (refer to the CD given to each child at the beginning of the year)
Baptism (CS, 100)
Seek the Lord Early (CS 108)
Families can be Together Forever (CS 188)
I will Follow God's Plan (CS 164)
Love is Spoken Here (CS 190)
We are so proud of all our Primary children. They are wonderful examples to us! Thanks for all your help and encouragement!
